Cloakware Partners With Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service to Provide Cloakware Server Password Manager to Federal Government and Enterprise Customers
Business Wire, Jan 23, 2007
Partnership Will Deliver Increased Protection for Sensitive Federal Government Agency, DoD and Enterprise Information
VIENNA, Va. -- Cloakware Inc., a security solutions provider that makes security inseparable from software, announced today that it has partnered with Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service, Inc., a leading information technology services firm, to provide unmatched protection of sensitive information for federal government, DoD and enterprise customers.
By becoming a Cloakware Professional Services Partner, Buccaneer adds Cloakware Server Password Manager (CSPM) to its portfolio of infrastructure management and security solutions. As such, Buccaneer will be responsible for distributing, implementing and servicing CSPM for a wide range of government and enterprise customers. A top ten global financial institution recently purchased CSPM as a result of this partnership.
"After reviewing competitors, it became clear that Cloakware is a company that would allow us to expand our reseller and services market," said Bud Michels, vice president, enterprise architecture solutions, Buccaneer Computer Systems. "Cloakware fits nicely into our portfolio and has a well-defined product list with a clear focus on system and application integrity. With this partnership, we've rounded out our portfolio with Enterprise Storage, Server Clustering, Networking, and now, system and application password management. We now have all the tools to help customers and product developers meet their internal and government-defined security policies."
With this partnership, Cloakware and Buccaneer now offers federal government, DoD and enterprise customers a cost-effective and world-class solution to protect sensitive information in all environments. Within large commercial and government organizations, it is a standard practice to hard code server passwords into applications where they are visible to developers, administrators and contractors. Now driven by Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) legislation to regularly update server passwords, agencies are finding that manual updates are costly and can cause outages.
CSPM is the first commercial solution that addresses the issue of hard-coded passwords in applications that reside on unattended servers. CSPM automatically updates passwords, thereby improving efficiency and eliminating downtime. Changing and managing hard-coded passwords in applications on unattended servers is an issue that affects every government and enterprise organization.
"Buccaneer is a rapidly growing provider of enterprise architecture, network and engineering services for many federal government agencies and commercial corporations," said David Canellos, executive vice president, worldwide sales for Cloakware. "By leveraging CSPM in many of its solution options, Buccaneer will be able to provide customers with increased scalability, security and operational efficiency for the enterprise while promoting more efficient utilization of personnel. By automating the process of securely changing server IDs and passwords, CSPM improves security, increases quality of service by reducing outages, and potentially saves millions of dollars by eliminating manual updates."
