South Carolina DOT Wins NAHBA Awards of Excellence for Bentley-Based Outdoor Advertising Solution
Business Wire, Jan 25, 2007
EXTON, Pa. -- Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced that the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) received two Awards of Excellence at the 2006 National Alliance of Highway Beautification Agencies (NAHBA) annual conference. Running Bentley's Outdoor Advertising System software, the SCDOT Outdoor Advertising Office won in the categories of "Streamlining and Integration in Outdoor Advertising" and "Innovations in Outdoor Advertising."
The Streamlining and Integration award was given for streamlining the permitting process using Bentley's Outdoor Advertising System, which additionally enables Web-based access. "The system shortens the entire process, cutting permit approval time down to as little as three days," said Keith Melvin, director of Outdoor Advertising at SCDOT. SCDOT staff has the ability to view digital photographs of each billboard.
The Innovations award was given for SCDOT's Web site, which provides SCDOT clients and employees with online access to the Outdoor Advertising System for sign permitting and account management. It gives sign owners immediate access to view, for example, what has already been permitted or the status of an application under review.
Many states are beginning to implement guidelines similar to SCDOT's processes and procedures to better manage outdoor advertising. Federal transportation enhancement funds are available for implementation of outdoor advertising permitting systems.
Bentley's Outdoor Advertising System presents a workflow-driven solution that handles everything from data entry, payment processing, and field inspection to robust management reporting -- all from a Web-based interface. For more information, visit www.bentley.com/o&m.
