Amateur Videographers Could Win Big in "Me & My Super Sweet Refund" Video Contest

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Have any big plans for that tax refund? Then grab your video camera and show the world, during the H&R Block TaxCut Online "Me & My Super Sweet Refund Video Contest," on www.youtube.com, launching today, Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007. Simply upload an original, one- to three-minute video documenting how you plan to spend your tax refund, and you could be eligible to win $5,000 cash, an Apple MacBook, or a Sony Hi-Def Handycam. Make it fun, make it serious, just make it.

Don't know where to start? Get the cinematic ideas rolling by checking out the five sample videos from TaxCut Online posted under TaxCutContest. Just be sure your entry contains the key phrases: "TaxCut Online" and "Super Sweet Refund."

"A lot of people talk about the big plans they have in mind for their refund, and here is their chance to showcase them in a unique and entertaining way," said Paula Drum, H&R Block's vice president of marketing, digital tax solutions. "Though the video contest doesn't begin until today, our sample videos were available for viewing starting Monday and within the first 24 hours more than 1.4 million views were recorded. The submission deadline is Feb. 21, and fans can vote for their favorite videos from Feb. 24 until March 23. The winners will be announced in April. The first prize winner's video will also be featured on the home page of youtube.com for one day in April.
