Advanced Design Provides Reliable, Flexible Communications for Government and Commercial Networks

FREMONT, Calif. -- Telecommunications equipment maker Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:NWK), a global provider of multi-service network exchange solutions for government and enterprise customers, announced today general availability of its NX1000. The NX1000 provides a flexible, cost-effective Internet Protocol (IP) aggregation solution that facilitates migration of legacy traffic to IP.

The NX1000 joins NET's NX Series adding multi-service aggregation to the NX5010's high speed transport. The NX1000 is housed in a rugged, compact and lightweight chassis and fits well into tactical and first-responder applications as well as supporting applications for high speed serial or legacy migration to IP, IP-based satellite transport, and tactical to fixed-site connectivity.

The NX1000 is fully interoperable with NET's Promina product line, delivering an all-new architecture and built-in capability to converge legacy applications onto an IP-based network while also providing four times the bandwidth of similarly sized Promina models.

"General release of this product is significant for NET as it not only gives us a strategy to help our customers aggregate and converge their legacy traffic to new network infrastructures, but the increased speed and functionality in the NX1000 allows customers to seamlessly expand their current networks," said John Sandschulte, Vice President Engineering and GM of the Broadband Technology Group. "Our customer trials enabled us to incorporate additional features and capabilities into the general release of this product and resulted in high praise for the NX1000's ability to meet deployment objectives."

The NX1000 also offers higher speed data interfaces, diskless data storage, and an optional rubidium atomic clock module to provide a high level of accuracy and synchronization for bit synchronous applications over IP.
