Sonepar USA Expands into Texas with Acquisition of Crawford Electric Supply
Business Wire, Jan 8, 2007
PHILADELPHIA -- Sonepar USA announced that it has acquired Dallas-based Crawford Electric Supply Company, Ltd. (CESCO), the largest independent wholesale electrical distributor in Texas. The acquisition confirms Sonepar USA's geographic footprint extent into the fast-growing Texas market. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1986, CESCO has locations in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The company offers high-quality, brand-name electrical and lighting products to commercial and residential contractors. Crawford has grown rapidly in recent years and is currently the 36th largest electrical distributor in the United States.
"We are delighted to welcome CESCO to the Sonepar USA family," said Tony Burr, President, Sonepar USA. "As a family-cultured business with a strong tradition of quality service, entrepreneurialism and innovation, Crawford is a perfect partner for meeting the demanding growth ambitions of Sonepar USA."
"Joining the Sonepar USA group of companies provides our associates with fantastic opportunities for growth and personal development that reflect the team spirit we have here at CESCO," said Craig Levering, Chief Executive Officer of CESCO. "We look forward to their support to help achieve our growth plans in Texas."
The CESCO purchase is Sonepar USA's seventh acquisition in less than two years. Last year, Sonepar achieved 56 percent growth through selective acquisitions and anticipates continued growth in 2007. Consistent with all other Sonepar USA acquisitions, CESCO will retain its brand identity and local autonomy. Craig Levering and his management team will continue to lead CESCO.
