Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Undertakes a Process to Raise Capital

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. -- Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., an operator of high-volume seafood restaurants in the U.S. and select international markets, today announced that the Board of Directors has retained Cowen & Company, LLC, to raise equity capital for accelerated unit expansion. According to Scott Barnett, president and CEO, "Bubba Gump has experienced tremendous success with recent openings. Our Santa Monica unit on the pier will generate approximately $9 million in its first year of operations and in 2007, we expect to open four domestic units, one international joint venture unit and two international franchise units, representing the most units we have opened in our history."
The first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant and market opened in 1996 on Cannery Row in Monterey, Calif., following the success of six-time Oscar winning film "Forrest Gump." The company currently operates and franchises 24 Bubba Gump restaurants. Investors in the business include Paramount Pictures and The Hillman Company.
