Business Wire, Jan 9, 2007

LAS VEGAS -- Nero, leaders in digital media technology, announces today that Zoran's new Vaddis 966 DVD multimedia processor chip is Nero Digital[TM] Certified. Nero Digital[TM], codeveloped by Nero and Ateme, is based on industry standards MPEG-4 Video (MPEG-4 SP/ASP and AVC/H.264) and MPEG-4 Audio (LC AAC and HE AAC) compression technologies. It enables the delivery of more high quality MPEG-4 compliant audio and video content at lower bit rates, while offering advanced interactive features.

Zoran's Vaddis 9 product family optimizes the design for all DVD players, addressing the needs of manufacturers supplying high volume, price-sensitive markets by reducing system costs, lowering system component count and reducing power consumption. The Vaddis 966 chip offers enhanced playability for scratched disks, JPEG viewing with Kodak PictureCD and playback of Microsoft WMA and compressed audio formats.

"The Vaddis 966 represents a fully digital end-to-end solution for all home, portable and automotive entertainment system DVD players," said Mitchell Golner, Sr. Director, DVD Player Product Line, Home Entertainment Division at Zoran. "The inclusion of Nero Digital support allows manufacturers to offer high DVD playback performance while keeping their production costs in line."

"Nero Digital continues to be in great demand as audio and video product manufacturers look to differentiate themselves in the marketplace," said Tim Windsor, General Manager, Consumer Electronics, Nero AG. "We are very happy to expand our strong partnership with Zoran to include their new Vaddis 966 chip."
