CED Partners with NVCA to Host Feb. 1 Discussion at UNC-Chapel Hill

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) today announced that Mark Heesen, president of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), will discuss the "State of Venture Capital" from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, at UNC-Chapel Hill's Carolina Club. NVCA is a national trade association that fosters a greater understanding of venture capital and supports entrepreneurial activity and innovation.

The special event on Feb. 1 - hosted by NVCA in partnership with CED - is free and open to the public. During his talk, Heesen will discuss recent investment activity and provide a snapshot of the venture capital landscape in 2007.

"This event will shed light on venture capital trends from a local, regional and national perspective," said CED President Monica Doss. "As a long-standing partner with NVCA, we look forward to having Mark Heesen in town to speak with the Research Triangle's entrepreneurial community."

Heesen works closely with the venture capital community, developing NVCA policies and strategies, and directing the Association's national legislative and regulatory efforts. Since 1991, Heesen has worked on behalf of the venture capital community to enact a wide range of policies that benefit the venture capital and entrepreneurial communities, including a significant capital gains differential, securities litigation reform, accounting treatment of stock options and merger accounting, reform of the FDA pre-market approval process, among others.

After Heesen's comments, there will be a Q&A session followed by a networking reception. While there is no cost to attend on Feb. 1, advanced registration is required. To RSVP for this limited attendance event, please email CED's Annie Smith-Bova at asmithbova@cednc.org.
