SurfControl Enterprise Threat Shield 4.0 and Web Filter 5.5 Service Pack 2 Provide Customers Increased Security and Control
Business Wire, July 10, 2007
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- SurfControl (LSE:SRF), a leading provider of global on-demand, network and endpoint IT security solutions, today announced the availability of SurfControl Enterprise Threat Shield 4.0 and SurfControl Web Filter 5.5 Service Pack 2 for Windows, ISA Server, Citrix and Mobile Filter.
"With the vast number of risks and security threats for organizations today, our customers depend on SurfControl to provide the best security offerings on the market," said Dave Tripier, SurfControl's senior vice president of product management. "The availability of Service Pack 2 for SurfControl Web Filter and the enhanced features in SurfControl Enterprise Threat Shield 4.0 provide customers increased security and control."
SurfControl Enterprise Threat Shield provides application and file control to protect desktop workstations, laptop computers and other endpoint devices against malicious and inappropriate applications, data loss, resource abuse, policy violations and other threats. The new release offers feature enhancements that add further protection against malware and damaging files, as well as performance and usability improvements that reduce network consumption and improve user experience.
SurfControl Web Filter enables IT administrators to enforce policies defining what users are allowed to do once they've been granted Internet access privileges. SurfControl Web Filter 5.5 Service Pack 2 extends signature based protocol monitoring and blocking for P2P and instant messaging applications to Web Filter for ISA. Additionally, Web Filter for Citrix can be installed on Microsoft Terminal Server Edition and Web Filter for Windows can run on virtual servers that use VMWare.
"Together, SurfControl Web Filter and Enterprise Threat Shield have helped us to save approximately one employee hour per 8-hour shift -- and that translates to about $5,000 per day in employee time alone," said Salvadore Betancourt, IT director at Sunnyside Community Hospital. "Add to that the savings in IT resources to diagnose and rebuild desktops, and it becomes a huge efficiency. From employee productivity to IT resources, SurfControl has helped us save on costs across the board."
