Leading Database Security Suite Able to Accurately Discover and Assess New Oracle Database
NEW YORK -- Application Security, Inc., the leading provider of database security solutions for the enterprise, today announced that its database security suite, DbProtect[TM], will support Oracle[R] Database 11g when it becomes generally available.
Application Security, Inc.'s Team SHATTER (Security Heuristics of Application Testing Technology for Enterprise Research) has beta-tested Oracle 11g with its market-leading DbProtect database security suite. Upon general availability of Oracle 11g, DbProtect will be able to accurately discover 11g instances and test their configurability to ensure secure settings upon deployment. As a result, organizations will be able to include the assessment of Oracle 11g instances, along with previous Oracle versions and other leading databases, in their broader security and compliance efforts.
"Ensuring a secure database configuration upon deployment is the single most effective thing organizations can do to improve database security," said Ted Julian, vice president of marketing and strategy for Application Security, Inc. "Other security features provide limited protection if databases go into production with default IDs and passwords still in place. Given the hundreds of databases under management at a typical enterprise and their complexity, even sophisticated organizations struggle to meet this simple best practice. With this update, DbProtect makes it easy for enterprises to ensure newly deployed 11g instances adhere to the appropriate security and compliance standards."
DbProtect is acknowledged as the industry's most complete database security solution - the only such offering to fully support the proven vulnerability management lifecycle. The suite allows enterprises to extend to their databases the same methodology currently used to secure their networks and general-purpose hosts. By doing so, DbProtect secures an enterprise's most sensitive data and bolsters compliance initiatives to protect data privacy and control access to enterprise data.
Built on the industry's most extensive knowledge-base of database-specific vulnerabilities, DbProtect combines database discovery, vulnerability scanning, real-time activity monitoring, auditing, and optional encryption. The comprehensive, integrated solution secures enterprise information assets by providing total coverage of, and real-time context for, database activity.
