Manitowoc's Foodservice Group Expects 90% Reduction in Time and Resources Required to Deploy Critical Patches
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Shavlik Technologies, LLC, a leading automated vulnerability and security configuration management provider, today announced that The Manitowoc Company, Inc., a global capital goods manufacturer, recently selected Shavlik NetChk([TM]) Protect to simplify and automate the deployment of critical patches for systems within Manitowoc's Foodservice Group (FSG). Manitowoc Foodservice Group designs and manufactures commercial ice-cube machines, beverage dispensers, and refrigeration systems on a global basis. As part of its operations, Manitowoc's Foodservice IS team must manage and secure servers, workstations, and laptops located in the US and China.
"Our team manages numerous desktop applications, such as Adobe, Java, and QuickTime, which have required us to devote the equivalent of two full time employees, continually applying patches to these applications manually," stated Hal Armstrong, the IS technology manager for Manitowoc Foodservice Group. "We chose the Shavlik solution because, out-of-the-box, it provides us with the support we need to auto-deploy patches to these applications, and we expect that, once fully deployed, NetChk Protect will allow us to reduce this resource allocation by almost 90% and significantly shorten our window of risk. Additional savings are being recognized due to Shavlik NetChk's ease of use - we can now assign our entry level system administrators to manage the patch process and focus our senior engineers on projects that drive our business."
"We are pleased that Manitowoc Foodservice Group selected Shavlik NetChk Protect to automate their patch management process," said Chris Schwartzbauer, vice president of sales and marketing for Shavlik Technologies. "We are seeing strong growth in our patch management business, especially our deployments to larger enterprises struggling to keep up with the rate of vendor patches being released each month. Our ease of use and management continues to provide our customers industry leading time-to-value. They recognize that an investment in a comprehensive solution for automated assessment, remediation and management will greatly reduce time, cost and organizational risk."
