Getronics' Future-Ready Workspace Enables Green Workspaces
BILLERICA, Mass. -- Getronics, a global IT services company, was recently designated as a Flexible Workplace Employer by the City of Houston under Mayor Bill White's Flexible Workplace Initiative. The Flexible Workplace Employer designation is awarded to companies in Houston who have demonstrated a sustainable commitment to flexible work options and meet specific criteria set by the City of Houston.
"The Flexible Workplace Employer designation confirms our response to the growing demand to offer flexible working environments," said Gary Cawthorne, president and general manager, Getronics North America. "Like many organizations today, our employees want to maximize their contribution by being able to work virtually from locations that fit their needs. Besides improving productivity and elevating employee satisfaction, virtual offices help us reduce the carbon emissions and traffic congestion associated with commuting to office spaces."
This is the second such designation for Getronics in Houston, having earlier been designated Best Workplaces for Commuters, an innovative, voluntary business-government program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
"We're implementing the same service internally that we offer to organizations around the world in financial, energy, manufacturing, and retail industries, which empowers us to work together wherever and whenever we need," said Marilyn Nelson, vice president of marketing and communications for North America. "Appropriately named Future-Ready Workspace, the solution provides us the equipment, service, and support to work at home, on the road, and in the office."
Beyond environmental benefits, Future-Ready Workspace lowers operating costs 10 to 50 percent based on a client's current efficiency in providing and sustaining its people's workspaces. The Future-Ready Workspace solution integrates optimized and tailored service modules that leverage Getronics' foundational and ongoing work in the internationally acclaimed Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), a collection of best practices for IT service delivery, and Getronics' participation in Microsoft's[R] Infrastructure Optimization Initiative (IOI), the core of Microsoft's[R] People-Ready solutions.
Just as Getronics uses the foundations of Future-Ready Workspace to help its more than 20,000 IT professionals around the world with their myriad of peripherals, PDAs, and communications, Getronics' Consulting and Transformation Service offers assessments that can identify a client's potential savings and environmental progress - ultimately unlocking their Flexible Workplace Employer capability.
