Helio Reveals Usage Statistics Exceeding Industry Averages
LOS ANGELES -- HELIO LLC announced today the launch of an enriched version of MySpace on Helio that delivers the fastest and most robust mobile MySpace experience on the market. Designed from the ground up by Helio and available exclusively on Helio's newest device, Ocean, the new application is up to five-times faster than Helio's original mobile MySpace service and rivals the speed, convenience and functionality of the Web - all at no additional cost to Helio All-In Members. The new MySpace on Helio application is yet another example of Helio carving out a unique space in the wireless market through continued leadership in mobile social networking. This in turn has allowed Helio to post continued growth and usage metrics far above industry averages in most areas.
"Helio pioneered mobile social networking as the first operator to partner with MySpace," said Sky Dayton, CEO of Helio. "Our exclusive new MySpace on Helio application is the best mobile MySpace service, making it easier than ever to connect, share and communicate with friends, and make new ones."
"Helio was the first to take the MySpace experience mobile, and this application represents a ground up reinvention of MySpace on Helio with a richer user interface, amazing graphics and added features," said Chris DeWolfe, CEO and co-founder of MySpace. "Helio is delivering social networking to mobile in new ways and letting the MySpace community share their experiences as they happen directly from their mobile like never before."
Ocean MySpace the Ultimate Networking Combination
Helio was the first to unchain millions of MySpace users from their PCs and give them unique mobile access to their MySpace network. As the architects of the original mobile version of MySpace, Helio's engineers have been constantly looking ahead for ways to make the experience faster, richer and more useful. The resulting application was designed for Ocean - Helio's flagship device that features the world's first dual slide design with two full keypads, a large (2.4") crystal clear QVGA screen, a 2 megapixel camera, GPS, built-in IM and email access, and one-click Internet search, all running on a nationwide 3G network. The combination of MySpace and Ocean is the ultimate tool for people who can't leave the house without instant access to their friends.
High Profile
The new custom-built MySpace on Helio application lets users edit profiles and integrates with Helio's free media sharing service, Helio Album, giving members the ability to easily send picture messages, comments and bulletins directly from the application. Now, editing a profile or adding to a blog from the road is easier than before with Ocean's full QWERTY keyboard making typing out messages faster than ever.
The new MySpace on Helio application also offers the basics, such as:
* Mailbox: Ability to read and write MySpace mail
* Bulletin: Send messages to all your friends anytime, anywhere
* Blogs: Read and write blogs on-the-go without a PC
* Photos: View photos on friends' profiles optimized for the mobile screen
Travel Photographer
The new MySpace on Helio takes advantage of Ocean's integrated 2 megapixel camera allowing members to shoot photos, automatically upload them and instantly post them to MySpace, on their profile or in a blog entry. Only MySpace on Helio gives members the ability to snap and upload photos right from within the application in as few as two-clicks, enabling them to share experiences as they occur.
Carving Out a Unique Space in the Wireless Market
Through the introduction of one-of-a-kind devices like Ocean, over a dozen industry firsts in one year, and original new services like MySpace on Helio, Helio continues to experience strong growth and usage of its core services. Meeting its goal of surpassing 100,000 total post-paid members in Q2 of 2007, Helio continues to see average revenue per user (ARPU) for its Helio and Helio powered by SK Telecom brand members between $90 and $100 per month, nearly double the industry average1.
Helio members are voracious users of its innovative services, at rates far exceeding industry averages in many key areas. This includes the following metrics for the Helio and Helio powered by SK Telecom brands in the first half of 2007:
* Members generate over 550 text messages per month on average
* 90% of members access the Web through their mobile device versus an industry average of 13%2
* Members consistently surf the Web to the tune of over 420 million page views
* MySpace on Helio's WAP service logged over 170 million page views
* Members are sharing their experiences in real time, uploading photos from their device to the Web at a rate three times the industry average3
Arguably the most complete messaging device on the market, Ocean's unique mix of dual-slide form factor and integrated messaging capabilities lets members stay in touch more than ever. This includes the following metrics for all Ocean users in June, the first full month since the device launched:
