Metal Product Manufacturer Selects XenSource for Server Virtualization

Buyken Restructures and Virtualizes Data Center Using XenEnterprise to Provide Fail-Safe System
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- XenSource, Inc., the leader of the open source Xen[TM] virtualization project and a provider of enterprise virtualization solutions, today announced that Buyken Metal Products, a leading metal products manufacturer, has deployed XenEnterprise to help rebuild their data center infrastructure and provide business continuity. Since deployment, server provisioning and management have become significantly easier and server downtimes that once slowed company operations have been eliminated.
"XenSource is a powerful virtualization tool for businesses," said Scott Gorcester, president of Moose Logic, a Seattle-based IT consultancy that helped Buyken design and deploy the new data center. "It's an excellent enterprise-ready choice for companies looking to benefit from virtualization but looking for an easy product to use."
Buyken wanted a virtualization solution that was priced right and provided the features needed to keep their business moving. Although Moose Logic had worked with VMware before, Buyken decided XenSource was a better fit because of its ability to run Windows using paravirtualization, a method of virtualization that provides greater security and reduced overhead.
"Since the adoption of XenSource, we feel more confident in our ability to provide our customers with the best service possible and without having to worry about server outages," said Mark Delaurenti, president of Buyken Metal Products. "XenSource has also made it easier to manage our network and migrate systems - saving us valuable amounts of time and money."
Although Buyken has yet to fully realize all the benefits of virtualization, they are pleased with the new data center built by Moose Logic, and expect it to continue benefiting them.
"XenEnterprise is not only an answer to rising maintenance costs and server sprawl," said John Bara, VP of marketing at XenSource. "It is also a great answer for enterprises needing to protect their systems and minimize the impact caused by server downtimes."
