Methodist Healthcare Taps TeleTracking for "Hospital of Future"
Business Wire, July 2, 2007
Five-Hospital Deal to Improve Patient Flow in San Antonio's Premier System
PITTSBURGH -- Methodist Healthcare of San Antonio has selected TeleTracking Technologies to help improve patient flow at five acute care hospitals, including a "Hospital of The Future" prototype currently under construction.
TeleTracking Technologies, world leader in improving patient flow through computer automation, provides software and process redesign services to create the prompts, feedback and data flow which make real-time patient flow management possible.
Methodist Healthcare signed a contract for the entire suite of capacity management solutions, including BedTracking[R], Pre-Admit Tracking[TM] with the electronic bedboard[R], and TransportTracking[TM]. The package integrates all aspects of patient transport, bed turnover and status and patient placement on a moment-by-moment basis.
These systems will be put in place at existing Methodist Hospitals and at Methodist's Hospital of the Future, Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, due to open in 2008. That hospital will incorporate advanced patient flow theory into radically new infrastructure designs involving the nature of how hospitals are organized. It will employ advanced technology, new patient care delivery systems and new processes such as wireless bar coding to ensure correct medication delivery, computerized medical order entry for physicians, and electronically archived diagnostic imaging for easy access by physicians in their home, office or on vacation.
"More than ever, there is greater pressure on hospitals to effectively move and track patients, as part of a growing commitment to superior healthcare," said Chris Anderson, TeleTracking's Director of Marketing.
"The fact that patient flow solutions are being factored into future-oriented institutions is further evidence that leading healthcare organizations see this as an increasing important part of delivering better patient care."
