Sandata Technologies and First Data Government Solutions Join Forces to Provide Visit Management Solution to Local, State and Federal Government Markets
Business Wire, July 23, 2007
DENVER & PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- Sandata Technologies, Inc., a leading IT services provider to the home health care and social services community, and First Data Government Solutions, Inc., a division of First Data Corp (NYSE: FDC), today announced the settlement of a patent infringement suit through an agreement to collaborate in providing visit management solutions for the home health care sector within the government markets served by First Data Government Solutions. By automating the processes of monitoring in-home patient care, the solution will generate greater efficiencies for governments, providers and payers while helping to prevent fraud.
The collaboration between the two companies will use Sandata's patented technology and robust call capture infrastructure to interface caregivers' patient data and appointment status with First Data Government Solutions' AuthentiCare[TM] system. Field workers call into the system by using a unique toll-free telephone number when they arrive and again when they depart their scheduled location. Sandata's patented technology captures the location of the caregiver and First Data Government Solutions' Authenticare[TM] technology validates and authorizes caregiver time and activities. In combination, these technologies verify that the right worker is at the right place, at the right time, performing the right combination of services.
Bert E. Brodsky, chairman and chief executive officer of Sandata, commented, "We look forward to integrating Sandata's patented technology with First Data Government Solutions' proprietary AuthentiCare[TM] System to help improve the efficiency and budgeting needs of the home care industry and governmental payers. We have already secured a contract with a major state government agency as our first client under the new joint agreement. The advantages of reducing fraud and abuse while improving productivity in the home care industry are obvious, and we are pleased with this collaboration, which is the result of an amicable settlement of patent litigation between our two companies."
Greg Bishop, president of First Data Government Solutions, said, "We are pleased with the outcome of this settlement and we look forward to collaborating with Sandata to serve our current and future customers in the home health care market. We are absolutely committed to delivering innovative solutions that meet the needs of our government clients in this market."
Stephen A. Silverstein, president of Sandata, commented, "We are excited to have the opportunity to work with First Data Government Solutions to serve the government market with our patented telephony system for monitoring caregivers' time and attendance and to manage home care operations. The synergies between our two companies will go a long way in securing new business and solving the important issues facing the home care industry."
