Intransa Expands Family of IP SANs; Introduces StorStac PCU25
Business Wire, July 23, 2007
StorStac Controllers Deliver High Availability Performance Features, Increasing 2GbE Performance
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Intransa, the global leader of scalable, network-centric IP storage solutions, today introduced the StorStac Performance Controller Unit 25 (PCU25), the latest high availability performance member of the storage industry's most scalable enterprise IP SAN. The StorStac Storage System PCU25, joins Intransa's growing StorStac System family, to deliver increased high availability, 1 and 2GbE support, and improved performance for customers with content rich server and network-based applications such as video surveillance, imaging, and server and storage consolidation.
Enterprise SANs based on iSCSI/IP standards have rapidly expanded to support mission-critical data storage and business applications in data centers. In addition, the need for high performance data throughput has increased as access to shared storage without disruption to content rich applications or users, is on the rise. With an Intransa PCU25 high performance storage system, organizations with high bandwidth needs can independently scale performance and high availability by adding controllers, or by increasing disk spindles for capacity. Doing so avoids customers having to add completely new storage systems, or forcing migration of storage to a new system as requirements grow, both potentially disruptive to the organization.
"The PCU25 offers higher performance than the competition, even over Intransa's proven 2GbE performance controller, the PCU20," said Jeff Whitney, Intransa's vice president of marketing. "There are many customer environments where higher performance will be very useful. When deployed for server and storage consolidation with Intransa StorAlliance Technology Partner VMWare for Microsoft, Linux or Unix environments, the additional performance delivered by the PCU25 will be truly appreciated. Of course, for those needing even higher performance, Intransa was the first to offer a truly enterprise-ready 10GbE solution, based on the award-winning PCU100 controller."
The StorStac PCU25 is specifically designed for customers who wish to increase redundancy and performance without adding controllers. The system has hot swappable, redundant power supplies and fans with improved performance over even the successful PCU20 performance controller. Previously, customers added additional PCU20 systems, each with single field-replaceable power supply and fan, for redundancy.
Digital content and streaming data applications such as video surveillance, video on-demand, IPTV, medical and document digital imaging and data mining are ideal environments for the implementation of an Intransa StorStac System family including primary and secondary IT storage applications such as disk-to-disk backup and recovery, server and storage consolidation. Tiered storage is also a typical use for Intransa's IP network storage solution.
Integrated solutions with StorAlliance Technology Partner Program members provide a wide range of proven answers to the needs of ILM, CDP, security, NAS/SAN integration, data management, data replication, disaster recovery, host and network connectivity, and many other market requirements.
The Intransa PCU25 delivers 240MB/S throughput, and like the Intransa PCU20 and PCU100 performance controllers, up to four can be deployed in a single StorStac high performance system. Each PCU increases overall system throughput and supports Intransa's advanced N-Way active/active scalable architecture for high availability. StorStac Systems are architected to scale from 4 through to 1,000 terabytes of RAID-protected capacity. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10 are selectable. A StorStac System with four PCU25s delivers 960MB/S system throughput. Four of the earlier announced PCU20s deliver 880MB/S, while the 10GbE PCU100 delivers 3,000MB/S system throughput. PCU20 and PCU25 systems support dual 1GbE interfaces which can be teamed for a higher performing 2GbE data pipe. All StorStac Systems offer the powerful yet easy to use 4th generation Intransa graphical user interface (GUI) for rapid system set up and ongoing storage management.
The complete StorStac System line, including the 2GbE PCU20 and PCU25, 10GbE PCU100 performance controllers and multiple capacity SCE storage enclosures, are immediately available through StorPartner channel program members worldwide.
