2007 Year-To-Date Awards Up 48% Compared to Same Period in 2006
EDGEWOOD, N.Y. -- CPI Aerostructures, Inc. (AMEX: CVU) ("CPI Aero") today announced that the U.S. Air Force has released $1,598,000 of orders under CPI Aero's C-5 TOP contract. These orders include a variety of different panels and wing spoilers.
In May 2004, CPI Aero was awarded a C-5 TOP (wing tips, others and panels) contract by the U.S. Air Force, which is valued at up to $215 million over the seven-year life of the program. Orders under this program, including this $1,598,000 order, have totaled $16.4 million to date.
Edward J. Fred, CPI Aero's CEO & President, stated, "With this award, the C-5 TOP contract has averaged approximately $5.2 million of new work per 12 month period, making it the second largest production contract in the Company's history behind only the T-38 modernization program, which averages approximately $6.8 million per 12 month period."
Mr. Fred also pointed out, "To date, new orders for 2007 total $12.6 million, a 48% increase from the $8.5 million in awards for the same period in 2006."
CPI Aero is engaged in the contract production of structural aircraft parts for the U.S. Air Force, other branches of the armed forces and leading prime defense contractors. In conjunction with its assembly operations, CPI Aero provides engineering, technical and program management services. The above statements include forward looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, which are described from time to time in CPI Aero's SEC reports, including CPI Aero's Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2006 and Form 10-Q for the quarter ended March 31, 2007.
