Pathmark Signs on with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters
Business Wire, July 9, 2007
WATERBURY, Vt. -- Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMCR) today announced that Pathmark Stores, Inc., one of the nation's leading supermarket retailers, is introducing Green Mountain Coffee Roasters[R] and Newman's Own[R] Organics coffee to its grocery shelves. The coffee will be available in 90 Pathmark stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Pathmark is offering Green Mountain Coffee Roasters[R] Signature coffees and Newman's Own Organics[R] selections in 10 and 12-oz. packages as well as in self-serve bulk displays. This includes a variety of Fair Trade Certified[TM] organic coffees, which guarantee small-scale coffee farmers and their families a fair and sustainable price for their crop. Pathmark will promote the new offerings with in-store displays for both the packaged and bulk coffee.
Headquartered in Carteret, New Jersey, Pathmark operates 141 supermarkets in the New York-New Jersey and Philadelphia metropolitan areas and employs over 25,000 associates. The company was an early pioneer of the "super center" concept, which combined traditional grocery items with non-food offerings. Pathmark's stores are located in both urban and suburban marketplaces.
"We believe Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and Newman's Own Organics will be well received by Pathmark customers," said Ken Liebl, Director of Category Management at Pathmark. "Green Mountain Coffee's commitment to creating a high-quality coffee and the awareness of its brand among consumers in this area makes this a great collaboration for Pathmark."
"We're excited that Pathmark has welcomed Green Mountain Coffee Roasters to its shelves," said Don Barberio, Vice President, In-Home Sales at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. "This partnership will enhance the availability of our coffee and our brand presence in the densely populated tri-state corridor. We hope Pathmark shoppers - especially those who are discovering us for the first time - will enjoy our coffees and come back for more."
