Scottrade's Director of Information Security and Business Continuity named one of Computerworld magazine's "40 Innovative People to Watch, Under the Age of 40"
ST. LOUIS -- Grant Bourzikas, Scottrade's Director of Information Security and Business Continuity, has been selected as one of the "40 Innovative IT People to Watch, Under the Age of 40" by IDG's Computerworld, the premier source of IT industry news and analysis. The award honors rising stars and innovators of the IT world who are changing and advancing technology.
"Computerworld's '40 Innovative IT People to Watch, Under the Age of 40' recognizes individuals developing innovative, promising technologies which hold the potential to significantly affect society in the near future," said Don Tennant, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Our panel of senior Computerworld editors evaluated nominations from leading corporations, universities and research labs. Grant was chosen for his ability to develop and implement security solutions to fit the needs of Scottrade and its customers."
Bourzikas, 30, is responsible for the overall information security, physical security and business continuity functions for Scottrade and its customers. Over the past year, Bourzikas has been involved in some of Scottrade's biggest IT projects, including the architecture, build and implementation of Scottrade's state-of-the-art data center. He relied on his past experiences, thorough knowledge of the Information Security space and the Scottrade team to create a highly secure, scalable and high performance network in an aggressive three-month timeframe. The result was a secure data center architecture that met high performance requirements without being limited by security capabilities, performance or functionality.
Bourzikas also led Scottrade's partnership with leading security company McAfee to help Scottrade become the first financial services firm to offer a comprehensive suite of security software as a free service to its customers.
"One of the best things about today's technology is that innovation and imagination are the only limiting factors for anyone today," Bourzikas said. "At Scottrade, we are constantly looking at new and innovative ways to enhance security for our customers and I am honored to be selected as one of Computerworld's 40 Under 40."
"Grant truly deserves this honor for his outstanding work in building a top-notch security team and transforming Scottrade's security efforts," said Ian Patterson, Scottrade chief information officer. "Security is one of Scottrade's top priorities and Grant has brought an incredible amount of expertise and innovation to our IT team."
Bourzikas' career began in consulting in Public Accounting at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, where he specialized in information security strategy and technical assessments and implementations focused on Fortune 500 companies. After leaving consulting, he managed the Information Security department at Argosy gaming before joining Scottrade as its first information security professional.
Computerworld's 40 Under 40 honorees will be recognized on the magazine's Web site and in Computerworld's 40th Anniversary Special Edition, which is available today. Honorees include up and comers in IT departments and rising stars and innovators of the IT world.
