BSQUARE Ships New Windows CE-Based Hardware Development Platforms for Marvell® PXA3xx Application Processors
Business Wire, July 9, 2007
Extensive On-Board Peripherals Plus Expansion Capabilities Provide Maximum Design Flexibility
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- BSQUARE (Nasdaq:BSQR) today announced that it is now shipping new development platforms for the Marvell([R]) PXA3xx (code named Monahans) family of application processors based on third-generation XScale technology: DevKit PXA300 and DevKit PXA320. A third platform, DevKit PXA310, is expected to ship shortly.
The DevKit PXA3xx platforms are designed with a rich set of peripherals and expansion options to maximize design flexibility and minimize time to market. The DevKit platforms support Ethernet, serial, USB, Compact Flash, SD/MMC and audio peripherals as well as high-resolution 10.4" touch screen displays. The platforms expose multiple expansion buses and support Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular expansion headers so OEMs can easily integrate radio components. The products ship with production-quality binary Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Board Support Packages (BSPs), technical support, and documentation. Windows CE 5.0 BSPs are also available.
"Marvell's PXA3XX processor family brings exceptional performance and integration to low power applications. With the broad peripheral support of the BSQUARE's DevKit platforms, our customers can apply the full capability of Marvell PXA processors into highly customized products with aggressive production schedules," said Gary Forni, Director of Platform Enabling, Marvell Cellular and Handheld Business Group.
BSQUARE also offers SchemaBSP for use with the DevKit PXA3xx platforms. SchemaBSP is an automated BSP generator tool that includes full source code and enables OEMs to quickly and easily customize the BSP that ships with the DevKit PXA3xx platforms to their final hardware design. By using SchemaBSP to generate custom BSP code, OEMs can decrease board bring-up time by up to 40%.
"With SchemaBSP, OEMs can focus their development time on differentiating their product instead of debugging system software," said Brian Crowley, president and CEO of BSQUARE. "SchemaBSP enables OEMs to lower BSP-related schedule risk and better ensure they meet or beat shipment dates."
