Unify Announces New Composer Edition for Migration of Lotus Notes Applications to the Microsoft Platform; Secures First Two Customer Wins

Business Wire, June 14, 2007

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Unify Corp. (OTCBB:UNFY), a global provider of application modernization software to enable Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), today announced the availability of its Microsoft[R] Edition of Composer for Lotus Notes. Composer is a software plus services solution that migrates Lotus Notes applications to the Microsoft Office System. Composer is the industry's only solution that provides a complete migration of both template and custom Lotus Notes applications to the Microsoft platform.

"Composer addresses one of the biggest challenges for Notes organizations today - migrating custom Lotus Notes applications to an SOA architecture," said Todd Wille, CEO of Unify. "Composer is a game changer. Up until now, customers were faced with an expensive rewrite as the only viable option for modernizing their custom Notes applications. Today, Composer offers Notes users a significantly lower risk and cost effective alternative to migrate Notes applications to Web services-based applications while retaining the value of the Notes business logic, workflow and data."

The Composer solution incorporates standard SOA methodologies, rich migration technologies and professional services to deliver new Web services-based applications that seamlessly integrate into the Microsoft Office System including SharePoint, Visual Studio and SQL Server. Because Composer uniquely migrates both template and custom Lotus Notes applications, customers with a strategy to move their entire Lotus Notes e-mail, collaboration and application framework to the Microsoft environment now have a complete application migration solution.

Unify's first two Microsoft Edition customers, a large solution integrator and an industry leading financial services company, recently selected Composer to migrate a set of custom, workflow-centric Notes applications to Microsoft .NET and SharePoint. By migrating their applications, these customers expect minimal operational disruption and re-training, better application performance and scalability and improved interoperability within the enterprise. Applications migrated with the Composer solution will enable these customers to quickly and seamlessly integrate with third party applications and other legacy systems using standard Web services interfaces.

With the Composer solution, Lotus Notes applications are decomposed and re-assembled. Data from the Lotus Notes application is migrated into a normalized SQL Server database, all business logic is restructured as C# Web services in Visual Studio, the user interface is transformed into SharePoint Lists, Web Parts or ASP.NET applications and the ACL security is mapped into Microsoft Active Directory Services.

According to a recent Gartner report, "We estimate that between 10 percent and 15 percent of companies considering moving from IBM to Microsoft are likely to migrate within the next two years (this proportion will probably grow toward the end of the decade). Moving e-mail and calendar functions is the first step. Planners also need a strategy for managing Notes/Domino applications. They can retain them on Notes/Domino or migrate them (in whole or in part)." (Migrating From Lotus Notes/Domino to MS Office System Needs Careful Planning, Tom Austin, Sept. 15, 2006)

"With 60,000 Lotus Notes customers addressing the business challenges of wanting to move email systems, facing a mandate to move off of Notes or simply wanting services-based applications to fit within an SOA, we believe there will be tremendous demand for the Composer for Lotus Notes solution," said Wille. "Composer for Lotus Notes is the only migration solution that enables legacy Lotus Notes applications to go from production on Notes to production on Microsoft."
