Getronics Sponsors Aberdeen Study on Impact of Outsourcing IT Infrastructure

Leading Practitioners of Outsourcing Enjoy Organization-Wide Productivity Gains

BILLERICA, Mass. -- Getronics, an international leader in providing IT services and solutions, announced the availability of a new benchmark report from the Aberdeen Group entitled "Outsourcing IT Infrastructure: The Productivity Payoff." The study evaluated companies around the world at various stages in outsourcing maturity and the results they are achieving.

Published by Aberdeen, a Harte-Hanks Company, the new report confirmed that more than two-thirds of Best in Class and Industry Average organizations surveyed are enjoying improved IT operations and processes as a result of outsourcing IT infrastructure management functions.

"Many organizations have experienced the financial benefit of utilizing near shore and off shore labor advantages. This study revealed that the secret desire of enabling IT staff to focus on more strategic efforts is being accomplished in well-governed organizations," said Ralph Rodriguez, Senior Vice President & Research Director of Technology Markets with Aberdeen Group. "There are clear markers for improvement among those considering IT infrastructure outsourcing and those that have yet to achieve results."

The report also concluded that Best in Class companies cite, on average, a 55% improvement in end-user productivity, close to four times that of the Industry Average and more than 18 times the average for Laggards. Underlying this sharp contrast in results, the study further revealed that key components of successful IT infrastructure outsourcing include pre-contract assessments of the infrastructure, along with good management and communication. More than half of respondents (59% of the Best in Class) say their organizations do such assessments as part of their outsourcing strategies.

"This study's results confirm what we continue to experience in our quest to help clients get the most from their sourcing relationships", said Jean-Paul Adans, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Portfolio and Alliances for Getronics. "It clearly affirms the importance of balancing the cost savings from labor sourcing and asset reduction with strong governance."
