On the Road and Need to Burn? Samsung Introduces New Portable Front Slot Loading DVD Burner
Business Wire, June 19, 2007
NEW YORK -- Samsung Electronics Ltd., the worldwide digital consumer electronics and information technology leader, announces its new high-end SE-T084L portable front slot loading DVD burner targeted to the business traveler that uses a portable notebook computer. The WriteMaster[TM] SE-T084L is ideal for the traveler on the go who requires a DVD burner, but whose notebook does not include the device. Samsung's new SE-T084L is being introduced today at the company's storage press conference in New York City.
The SE-T084L is a portable, lightweight DVD RW solution offering a USB cable that connects directly to a notebook and is the only slot-in drive that supports 8cm discs, making it perfect to burn discs from DVD camcorders. The SE-T084L is currently shipping with a street price of $150.
"Samsung understands the unique needs of today's business traveler and busy professional who is always on the go and requires powerful, high-tech mobile computing devices to get the job done right," said Kurt Schulz, national sales manager, Samsung Storage Division. "The new SE-T084L is the perfect portable DVD solution for notebooks that are not equipped with a burner. Users no longer need to carry around a heavy, obtrusive external product and now have an elegant and stylish solution when on the go."
The SE-T084L is a slim and compact portable DVD burner featuring easy insert and eject capabilities with its slot loading technology. It offers USB bus power and gives users the ability to read and write to DVDs without the need for an AC adaptor. The SE-T084L features 8X DVD R recording, 6X DVD R DL recording, 8X DVD RW and DVD-R recording. It also features 4X DVD-R DL recording, 6X DVD-RW recording and 5X DVD-RAM recording.
Utilizing LightScribe technology, the SE-T084L is perfect for creating business presentations while on the move. Users record their preferred data - music, photos, or text - remove the disc after burning is complete, turn it over and the SE-T084L imprints the label, design or photo onto the disc. This one-of-a-kind technology focuses light energy onto a thin dye coating to produce labels. Only LightScribe-ready CDs and DVDs can be inscribed by drives with LightScribe technology.
SE-T084L, as with Samsung's full suite of WriteMaster DVD drives, offers multiple high-end technologies providing best-in-breed performance including: Speed Adjustment Technology to match the speed to the functionality of the disc; Tilt Actuator Compensation (TAC) for preferred writing condition when interacting with the objective lens; and Double Optimum Power Control, which balances the laser power on the sides of the disc for a better writing performance. Buffer Under Run Error is avoided by the power save attribute. The Automatic Ball Balancing System (ABS) further reduces vibration and noise. The SE-T084L is eco-friendly and uses lead-free soldering technology and is RoHS compliant.
