SunGard Ranked 'Traction Index' Leader in Celent's Insurance Software Deal Trends Report
Business Wire, June 21, 2007
ATLANTA -- SunGard (http://www.sungard.com) today announced that in the latest edition of the Insurance Software Deal Trends report by research and advisory firm, Celent LLC, SunGard was ranked as a leader in Celent's "Traction Index." The Traction Index is a weighted score that measures the volume and type of deals that software companies made during 2005 and 2006.
In conducting research for the report, Celent collected data on 1,405 deals between insurance carriers and software vendors that occurred in 2005 and 2006. Of this total, 45% of the deals involved life/annuity/health insurers, and 55% involved property/casualty insurers. Celent believes that while this data is by no means comprehensive, and while it is subject to many limitations, the data set provides an opportunity to present quantitative analysis about insurance software buying patterns. SunGard, for the second year in a row, was named a leading insurance vendor.
"Leaders in our Traction Index are demonstrating strong momentum among insurers, which gives them the kind of experience that many carriers are looking for," said Craig Weber, Celent senior analyst and author of the report."
Greg Webber, president of SunGard's insurance business, said, "We are pleased to have been ranked by Celent in the Traction Index, and view it as strong evidence of SunGard's commitment to customer success. We work closely with our customers to help them achieve their strategic growth initiatives by providing systems that help to enhance the quality of client service, improve time to market for new product and service offerings and reduce operational costs."
