Caris & Company Appoints Mike Gilman as Managing Director: Institutional Sales

DEL MAR, Calif. -- Caris & Company announced today the appointment of Mike Gilman as Managing Director: Institutional Sales. Mr. Gilman will be based out of the investment bank's West Coast offices.
"Mike brings a tremendous amount of experience to Caris & Company, having been a leading Institutional salesperson for over 20 years," said Darren Caris, Chairman and CEO. "We cater to the most sophisticated investors in the world, which requires and advanced skill set, such as Mike's, to ensure that we continue to help our clients generate alpha." Mr. Caris added that this hire would augment the firm's commitment to become Wall Street's top research oriented boutique investment bank, and enhance the Company's West Coast sales effort.
Mike Gilman has over twenty years of experience in institutional sales, the last seven years as a top producer and Senior Vice President, Institutional Equity Sales at Wedbush Morgan Securities. Prior to Wedbush Morgan, he was a Senior Vice President, Equity Sales at Friedman, Billings and Ramsey and a Vice President, Equity Sales at Sutro and Company. Mike began his Wall Street career as an institutional fixed income salesman, the first eleven years as a Vice President at Smith Barney and Company, followed by similar roles at Citicorp Securities and Sutro and Company.
Mike received his B.A. in Economics and Psychology in 1976 from Trinity College (CT) and his M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago in 1980. Mike enjoys running and music. He, his wife, and two daughters live in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles.
