Dynapar Recognized for Outstanding Customer Support, Achieves Level 3 Supplier Certification from Otis Elevator
Business Wire, June 27, 2007
GURNEE, Ill. -- Dynapar, a major manufacturer of encoders and resolvers, announced that it has received Level 3 Supplier Certification from Otis Elevator, a designation that allows Dynapar to be included in Otis' ACE program (Achieving Competitive Excellence), where only its best suppliers reside. Dynapar supplies Otis Elevator with encoders that help elevator control systems know the exact position of the elevator car.
Otis Elevator Company, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), recently notified Dynapar that it has received Q Level 3 Supplier Certification. In the certification and Q audit process, Otis rates its suppliers' manufacturing locations for performance in 26 different areas where the lowest score in any one area determines the overall score. Dynapar achieved Level 3 in 23 areas and Level 4 (Gold) in the rest.
In addition to the performance merit, Otis requires suppliers to provide a minimum of 95 percent on-time deliveries and less than a 900 PPM (Parts Per Million) quality rating.
Unlike suppliers who have only one manufacturing location, Dynapar performance was achieved across multiple plants used to supply Otis customers with consistent product and local support around the world.
Mark McElhinny, Business Unit Director of Dynapar, said that although the award is an accomplishment in its own right, Dynapar views it as a challenge to move up to the Gold level, which is a superset of the quality standard ISO9000.
"The whole Dynapar team deserves credit for this recognition, along with the Otis employees who supported our efforts," McElhinny said. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with Otis and to the challenge of achieving Gold level certification."
