MEDecision to Deliver Patient Clinical Summary; Clinically Validated, Payer-Based Health Record Enters 10(th) State
WAYNE, Pa. -- MEDecision, Inc. (Nasdaq: MEDE), a provider of software, services and clinical content to health care payers, today announced that its Patient Clinical Summary (PCS[TM]) will be deployed by Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) in a 12-month pilot program aimed at improving care for the health plan's 700,000 plus members.
According to HMSA, the Patient Clinical Summary was selected for its potential to enhance care quality, streamline costs and give the insurer a distinct competitive advantage in its market. HMSA will begin the 12-month pilot program in September in Honolulu. HMSA is Hawaii's largest health care insurer, covering more than one-half of the state's insured population.
"The HMSA initiative demonstrates the momentum and acceptance the PCS continues to gain in the marketplace," said MEDecision President and Chief Operating Officer John H. Capobianco. "With the pilot program, Hawaii will become the 10th state in which MEDecision is deploying the Patient Clinical Summary. It underscores the growing realization throughout the industry that richer information can enable faster and more informed decisions to improve care."
"As a long time MEDecision customer, we are very pleased to be bringing the advantages of the PCS to our membership," said HMSA Senior Vice President Georgiana Fujita. "It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to employing diverse and innovative resources to improve the health and well-being of our members and all the people of Hawaii."
