Xcel Energy Subsidiary Northern States Power Co.-Minnesota Announces Redemption of 8.00% Notes, Series Due 2042

MINNEAPOLIS -- Xcel Energy (NYSE:XEL) subsidiary Northern States Power Co.-Minnesota announced today that it will redeem all of its outstanding 8.00% Notes, Series due 2042 (the "Notes"). NSP - Minnesota has issued and outstanding $185,000,000 in principal amount of the Notes. The redemption will take place on August 1, 2007 (the "Redemption Date"). The Company will redeem the Notes at a redemption price equal to 100% of the principal amount of the Notes ($25.00), plus accrued and unpaid interest on the Notes, if any, to the Redemption Date (the "Redemption Price"). On the Redemption Date, the Notes will become due and payable, and interest will cease to accrue on the Notes on the Redemption Date, and the only remaining right of the holder of the Notes after the Redemption Date will be to receive the Redemption Price. The CUSIP number for the Notes is 665772794. The notes are listed on the New York Stock Exchange; the symbol is XCH.
