Business Wire, June 5, 2007
NEWARK, N.J. -- The Executive Committee of McCarter & English, LLP announced that Eric Watt Wiechmann, a partner in the Hartford office, has been elected Deputy Managing Partner of the 400-lawyer, eight-office firm. He will succeed Managing Partner Lois M. Van Deusen when she retires in October.
"Our expansion beyond New Jersey over the last decade has been great for clients, who have more resources in more places with the same high McCarter levels of integrated service and expertise," said Drew Berry, Chairman of the Executive Committee. "Now it's our turn to enjoy the talents and experience of great managers like Eric, regardless of geography."
Mr. Wiechmann has been a member of the firm's Executive and Compensation Committees. His practice, which is nationwide, focuses on sophisticated civil litigation, including toxic tort, antitrust and professional liability cases. Mr. Wiechmann has tried both jury and court cases and argued appeals in numerous state and federal courts throughout the country and represented companies and individuals before various administrative agencies. Among many legal community activities, he serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Defense Counsel and was President of its Foundation.
