Barnes & Noble CMO Joins Silverpop Board
Business Wire, June 6, 2007
ATLANTA -- David Gitow, Chief Marketing Officer for Barnes & Noble, has joined the Silverpop Board of Directors.
Responsible for all marketing activities for this $5 billion specialty retailer, Gitow manages marketing for both Internet and store channels, and has responsibility for both Barnes & Noble gift card business and its loyalty program.
Prior to joining Barnes & Noble, Gitow served as CMO of Enews.com, and was the Founder and President of Time Inc. Home Entertainment, which encompassed 13 product lines including Time, People, Sports Illustrated, Money, Fortune, Entertainment Weekly, and other top publications.
"David brings a tremendous background in marketing, both online and offline. We're very honored to have someone with his experience and vision help us manage and grow our business," said Silverpop CEO Bill Nussey.
The privately-held software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider has enjoyed impressive growth over the last four years. From 2002 through 2006, Silverpop's revenues grew a remarkable 2,605 percent. Strong financials have also led to continuing profitability for the thriving email marketing company, which just last month announced the acquisition of demand-generation company Vtrenz.
"Silverpop is in a most enviable position right now," Gitow said. "The board and management team have a clear and dynamic vision for the company's growth during the next few years. It will be exciting to be part of Silverpop as it continues to define and refine the practice of online relationship marketing."
