QRadar 6.0 Ties Security Threats and Compliance Violations to User Identity; Links To Access Control Solutions
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Q1 Labs, a leading network security management company, today unveiled QRadar[TM] 6.0, the company's latest strategic product release that ties an extensive list of identity sources to network activity, security threats and compliance violations. By offering historical records of user activity on corporate assets along with integration with network access control solutions, QRadar 6.0 delivers an industry-first identity driven end-to-end network security management solution.
QRadar 6.0: Knowing the Who Behind the What
Traditional security and network management products alarm administrators to 'incidents' that tie suspicious activity to IP addresses. While this method is sufficient for external threat monitoring, dynamic user activity inside corporations makes this approach unacceptable for distinguishing the source of internal threats. With QRadar 6.0 identity tracking, administrators rapidly understand the true source of insider threats, infections, and BOTs. For companies with strict compliancy issues, QRadar 6.0 provides a record of user activity over time and associates users, regulated assets and suspicious activities into one view.
"For a security threat or policy violation, IT wants to know who was responsible, what assets are impacted, where the problem originated, and when it began," said Tom Turner, vice president of Marketing for Q1 Labs. "By combining network, security and identity information - including explicit user names - into a single view, QRadar 6.0 is the only network security management solution that can answer these four questions."
Taking Action Based On User Identity
QRadar 6.0 also supports remediation to access control solutions in order to quarantine users acting suspiciously on the corporate infrastructure. Network Access Control solutions ensure that access is only allowed to the network if a user and an end system comply to certain corporate rules. But what happens if something goes wrong and the user is already on the Network? QRadar addresses this by detecting suspicious activity and communicating user violations to access control solutions that conform to the Trusted Computing Group's (TCG) Trusted Network Connect (TNC) open standards.
"The ability to thoroughly analyze suspicious activity on our network has been extremely valuable, said Alphonse Edouard, VP for Dune Capital Management LP. "QRadar 6.0's identity tracking capability has helped us to dramatically shorten the amount of investigation time it used to take for us to track down and resolve each issue."
