Amerinet Announces Partnership with ENERGY STAR
Business Wire, March 12, 2007
ST. LOUIS -- Amerinet Inc. today announced that it is partnering with ENERGY STAR[R], the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's voluntary program that offers businesses and consumers energy efficient solutions to help save money while protecting the environment for future generations.
"With rising supply and device costs, ever-changing regulations, reimbursement and transparency issues, hospitals need innovative solutions to remain competitive," said Randall Walter, Executive Vice President of Supply Chain and Enterprise Solutions Division for Amerinet. "The ENERGY STAR program provides an opportunity for health care providers to reduce costs, eliminate energy waste and implement new improved energy management practices."
Through ENERGY STAR, the EPA has developed a rating system that enables hospitals to measure their energy performance based on how they compare to similar facilities nationwide. Amerinet works in collaboration with members, at no cost, to establish an ENERGY STAR rating and create a strategic approach to better manage energy consumption.
"By creating a strategic initiative, hospitals can improve energy efficiencies and realize substantial reductions in energy costs," said Mike Reid, Amerinet's Senior Director of Construction, Capital and Facility Services. "Within the Amerinet portfolio of supplier partners, we support our members in a variety of areas by offering supply side procurement strategies, demand side conservation efforts, and energy efficient product procurement strategies."
According to the EPA, the health care industry spent approximately $8.4 billion on energy in 2006. Of existing infrastructure, the EPA reports that hospitals can improve their energy efficiency as much as 30 percent.
"Health care providers can leverage the ENERGY STAR program to identify and implement strategies with real return on investment while enhancing the environment within which they live," added Reid.
