Altiris Ships Automated PC Deployment and Migration for Windows Vista

Altiris software extends technology leadership for Windows Vista management, deployment and migration
SALT LAKE CITY -- Altiris, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATRS), a pioneer of service-oriented management solutions, today announced the availability of Altiris([R]) Deployment Solution([TM] )software 6.8 SP1 with support for Windows Vista1. New capabilities help IT professionals automate change and reduce the cost and complexity of Windows Vista deployment and migration.
IT organizations require solutions to help enable business continuity through the transition to Windows Vista. Altiris service-oriented management solutions help manage change efficiently and seamlessly with automated hardware inventory assessment, operating system deployment, application compatibility mitigation and data and settings migration. These Altiris software management technologies help deliver efficient software operations, increase system availability and maintain employee productivity throughout the change.

Deployment Solution, which includes Altiris([R]) PC Transplant([R]) Solution software, offers an easy-to-use, integrated solution that includes operating system deployment, configuration, computer personality migration and software deployment. Numerous new capabilities include:
* A new agent with Windows Vista User Account Control support, minimized client / server communications traffic and a much smaller disk footprint
* New sample jobs for Windows Vista Sysprep and Windows Vista scripted OS installs
* Windows Vista image multicasting
* Integrated support for Microsoft Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) tools including the ImageX utility and the Windows Imaging Format
* New application data and settings migration support for Microsoft Office 2007 Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
Licensing and availability
The Windows Vista-ready version of Deployment Solution software is now available and is offered at an MSRP of US $47 per node. PC Transplant Solution software for Windows Vista is included with Deployment Solution but is also available as a standalone solution and is offered at an MSRP of US $25 per node. Deployment Solution is also available as a component of Altiris([R]) Client Management Suite([TM]) software and Altiris([R]) Migration Suite([TM]) software.
