Qwest Earns Top Rating in Light Reading Carrier Scorecard
Business Wire, March 20, 2007
DENVER -- Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) recently earned the highest rating given in the North American Carrier Scorecard. The scorecard is a quarterly ranking of top-tier service providers issued by Light Reading, a leading integrated media company covering the communications industry.
The scorecard noted Qwest's success at selling bundled services, and observed that in the fourth quarter of 2006 the company showed "phenomenal growth" in broadband subscribers. Subscribership grew by 44.46 percent from the fourth quarter of 2005 to the fourth quarter of 2006.
"Customers - from budding entrepreneurs to multi-national Fortune 500 companies - turn to Qwest for the products and services they can trust," said Tom Richards, executive vice president, Qwest business markets group. "This top ranking from Light Reading confirms Qwest's leadership position among the largest carriers."
Qwest was one of two carriers to earn a B rating. The report noted that a carrier would need to be "near perfect" to earn an A.
The scorecard rated five major North American carriers and reported on their year-over-year growth in revenue, earnings, GAAP EPS, access lines, broadband subscribers and video subscribers.
