Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Private Equity Group Closes GS Vintage Fund IV with $3 Billion

NEW YORK -- The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS) today announced it has raised its fourth dedicated private equity secondaries fund. GS Vintage Fund IV represents approximately $3 billion in capital commitments, focusing on providing liquidity to private equity investors. Significantly over-subscribed, GS Vintage Fund IV included existing and new institutional and individual limited partners throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia.
GS Vintage Fund IV will focus primarily on acquiring portfolios of private equity assets - including interests in limited partnerships ("LP secondaries") and portfolios of direct company investments (referred to as "synthetic secondaries") - and on creative capital solutions for private equity general partners and limited partners. The GS Vintage Funds evaluate opportunities ranging from $1 million to over $1 billion, across all private equity strategies and geographies. GS Vintage Fund IV has already completed several investments, having led significant strategic transactions involving the JPMorgan Partners Global Fund and Mellon Financial Corporation, among others.
The GS Vintage Funds are recognized as a leader and one of the largest investors in the growing secondary market for private equity. Drawing on Goldman Sachs' global sourcing network, due diligence capabilities, and extensive private equity relationships, the GS Vintage Funds have pioneered unique liquidity and capital solutions to both limited partners and general partners around the world.
GS Vintage Fund IV is the latest fund raised by the Private Equity Group of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. The Private Equity Group today manages over $22 billion of capital across fund-of-funds commitments, secondary market investments and co-investments. The Private Equity Group represents over 100 professionals across offices in New York, London, San Francisco, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangalore.
