Trolltech Dominates VoIP With 40 Devices Using Qtopia

Business Wire, March 20, 2007

Showcase of Mobile Phones and Other Devices at VON, San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Trolltech[R] (OSE:TROLL) announced today that its Qtopia[R] software is an emerging dominant Linux development platform for VoIP/Wi-Fi devices. Device manufacturers have chosen Qtopia for its flexibility and ease of use. At this week's VON conference in San Jose, California, Trolltech will be demonstrating many of these devices.

The variety of Qtopia devices - from mobile and video phones to portable media players - demonstrates the advantage of using a single development platform across many different products. This increasingly popular approach simplifies development of new devices and significantly decreases the time it takes to bring them to market. This is especially important for manufacturers competing for consumers in the rapidly expanding marketing for VoIP/Wi-fi enabled devices. According to ABI Research, VoIP shipment volumes in 2010 are expected to reach 46 million units in VoIP over wireline and 200 million units in VoIP over WiFi.

Trolltech, an early pioneer in mobile Linux, has more than 40 VoIP/WiFi devices in the market or coming soon many of which will be on display at its booth at VON. They include:

Trolltech also announced today that Skype, the global internet communications company, has chosen Trolltech's Qtopia([R]) as the preferred platform for connecting the Skype[TM] user interface to the operating system in Skype Certified[TM] WiFi handsets and a variety of other devices that deliver a Skype experience.

Trolltech will be showing many of these devices and its Qtopia software in action at its VON booth, #117. Qtopia Series 4 includes Qtopia Core for single-application devices, Qtopia Platform for multi-application devices and Qtopia Phone Edition specific for mobile phone devices.
