The Job Network Enters into Strategic Partnership with Yahoo!'s HotJobs Division

Business Wire, March 21, 2007

MOLINE, Ill. -- The Job Network LLC and Yahoo!'s HotJobs division have agreed to an alliance that will help many of the nation's community newspapers post employment advertising to the HotJobs website (http://hotjobs.yahoo.com), a leading online recruitment destination that has revolutionized the way people manage their careers and companies hire talent..

"We believe this agreement will help the nation's community newspapers protect and enhance their leadership role in recruitment/employment advertising," said Marc Wilson, president of The Job Network. "Newspapers hold the traditional role of serving their communities' advertising needs. This alliance should strengthen that role."

Under the agreement, members of The Job Network can post employment ads to the HotJobs website. "Newspapers will be able to offer great combinations of advertising to customers looking to hire employees. The newspapers can sell traditional print, The Job Network and the HotJobs distribution method offered by Yahoo!," Wilson said.

This agreement enables The Job Network to provide recruitment advertisers a larger, more diverse candidate pool for their job opportunities. This access in local markets, combined with HotJobs' online presence and targeting tools, will help job seekers and recruiters connect at the local level.

Job Network members will be able to retain their network with other newspapers in The Job Network. "The Yahoo! staff has been excellent to work with," Wilson said. "They are committed to partnering with newspapers and creating a win-win situation for all concerned."

The Job Network LLC is owned by TownNews.com, Redmatch North America, and PAGE Co-Op, which is a cooperative buying company owned by many of the nation's privately held newspapers.

TownNews.com provides Internet services to more than 1,400 U.S. newspapers, mostly smaller and midsize dailies and weeklies. TownNews.com is 83 percent owned by Lee Enterprises.

Redmatch is a leading provider of online recruitment technology. The Job Network is based on a unique technology developed by Redmatch. This technology, Real-Time Job Matching, enables candidates and employers to be matched, find each other and communicate in a dramatically more efficient way.

PAGE Cooperative is owned by its 257 corporate members and includes more than 560 daily newspapers among its 1,500 publishing sites. Most of the PAGE member companies are paid circulation community newspapers concentrating on local news and advertising.
