America's #1 Super Premium Brand Introduces First Bordeaux-Inspired Wine
SAN FRANCISCO -- Today, Robert Mondavi Private Selection (RMPS) announces the launch of Vinetta, a red wine blend made with the five classic Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Inspired by Robert Mondavi's European travels of the early 1960s, this stylish red wine was created to offer consumers a chance to explore and discover something new from a trusted, quality leader like RMPS. Vinetta is the first Bordeaux blend to join the RMPS portfolio.
"Vinetta is a bold, adventurous new wine that remains 100% true to Robert Mondavi's passion for excellence and innovation," says Damon Musha, Marketing Director for RMPS. "As today's wine consumers face an overwhelming number of choices, Vinetta offers an opportunity to safely explore something fresh in the world of wine."
The package for Vinetta is unique to the RMPS line. It features a larger front label and clearly indicates the percentage of each Bordeaux varietal. The sophisticated, decaled edge label is topped off by a striking metallic blue capsule. Vinetta is a proprietary name based on the Latin word vineae meaning vine.
Traditionally, the U.S. wine industry has been driven by varietal wines - those labeled by type of grape, e.g. Chardonnay or Merlot. However, interest in red blended wines has been growing with California leading the charge. Sales in this category are up 19% versus last year. In fact, California red blends are outpacing the growth of many single red varietals, including the Sideways-hyped California Pinot Noir!*
Vinetta is crafted from grapes grown along California's Central and North Coasts. Elegant yet fruit-forward, Vinetta offers flavors and aromas of black cherry, dark plum and blackberry, a plush velvety texture and a pleasant, lingering finish. Intense and hearty cuisine is best paired with Vinetta; try with grilled rib-eye or porterhouse steak, osso bucco, aged blue cheese and lamb chops.
Vinetta will arrive at stores and in restaurants by early April, 2007. Its suggested retail price is $11.00.
