Avanquest Software USA Acquires Assets of SendPhotos, Inc., Enters Online Digital Photo Sharing Market
Business Wire, March 26, 2007
State-of-the-Art Mobile Image Management Solution to be Presented at CTIA '07 in Orlando, March 26-29
DENVER -- Avanquest Software, a leading software developer and publisher for consumer and business markets worldwide, today announced its entry into the online digital photo sharing market with the acquisition of the assets of Boulder, Colorado-based SendPhotos, Inc., developer of SendPhotos.com and its associated state-of-the-art PC software.
Avanquest, which markets software products through retail, reseller and OEM channels in North America, Europe and Asia, said the advanced online photo sharing site and photo sharing technologies acquired in the transaction will be used to expand its range of consumer and business product offerings.
"This investment brings one of the most powerful and fully-featured photo management solutions available to consumers under the Avanquest umbrella," commented Bob Lang, president, Avanquest Software USA. "The SendPhotos platform will support the activities of our consumer publishing and OEM divisions to build a strong position in the global digital imaging marketplace by offering a wide range of valuable solutions to our customers."
The first Avanquest solution to leverage the SendPhotos technology and SendPhotos.com portal is SendPhotos Mobile, Avanquest's entry in the dynamic Mobile Value Added Service (MVAS) market. The end-to-end solution for deployment by wireless carriers will be demonstrated for the first time in North America by Avanquest's OEM division at CTIA Wireless 2007 in Orlando, March 26-29.
A complete value-added service that can drive 3G network utilization to boost ARPU and increase operator sales of higher resolution camera phones, SendPhotos Mobile uses patented device memory management technology to automate image uploads, eliminating user concerns about device memory limits and ensuring against loss of precious images.
Operators can deploy the Avanquest client software using any existing photo management portal or SendPhotos.com, which tightly integrates with the new operator-customizable client. Generating recurring revenue to operators through photo back-up subscriptions and increased data charges, the solution also helps lower camera phone costs to consumers through reduced internal device memory requirements, extending the availability of higher resolution cameras phones in the marketplace.
Financial terms of the SendPhotos Mobile transaction were not disclosed. Employees of SendPhotos, Inc. have been integrated into Avanquest's Westminster, Colorado operations.
SendPhotos.com provides users with 5 GB of online photo storage and a software tool that offers the easiest form of photo sharing and greatly expanded creative possibilities. The site's 30,000 current subscribers enjoy unique features that enable them to:
* Give rights to friends to add pictures to one or more personal online collections.
* Create photo stories with colorful designs and the user's own personal captions.
* Synchronize PC and online folders so users never lose pictures.
* Utilize easy email transfer - eliminating cumbersome attachments and slow downloads
