Spirent's FLO1-ATS Provides Complete, Automated Minimum Performance Testing of MediaFLO-Capable Mobile Devices
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Spirent Communications plc (NYSE:SPM) (LSE:SPT), a global provider of performance analysis and service management solutions, announced today the availability of its test system for MediaFLO-enabled mobile devices, the first to include full test automation. Spirent's FLO1-ATS allows network operators and device manufacturers to ensure the quality of experience for subscribers receiving MediaFLO services by thoroughly qualifying MediaFLO-enabled device performance prior to deployment.
MediaFLO is based on FLO[TM] technology, a globally-recognized air interface standard that is supported by the FLO Forum and more than 70 industry members. It is designed specifically to increase wireless network capacity and coverage and to reduce multimedia delivery costs. It is complementary to existing 2G/3G networks.
Spirent's FLO1-ATS is an integrated system that automates testing per the TIA-1102 minimum performance test specification. It brings complete automation to FLO minimum performance testing, resulting in reduced test times and faster time-to-market. The system's automation also improves consistency, which greatly reduces human errors in the testing process, and improves the accuracy and reliability in measurements and test results. The fully integrated, stand-alone system requires no additional hardware to deliver FLO I testing for MediaFLO-enabled devices.
"With FLO1-ATS, Spirent continues its leadership in providing integrated, optimized and fully automated test solutions to the mobile industry," said Nigel Wright, vice president of product marketing at Spirent. "As part of Spirent's commitment to enabling the success of Mobile TV services, we now have an automated system to ensure that MediaFLO-enabled devices meet performance requirements."
MediaFLO is designed to enable revolutionary new wireless services and deliver high-quality multi-media to wireless users. Spirent's FLO1-ATS is a powerful, automated system that helps device manufacturers and service providers achieve their goals of minimizing deployment problems and improving end-user satisfaction with MediaFLO-based services.
Spirent's FLO1-ATS addresses the requirements of FLO minimum performance testing, evaluating a FLO receiver's performance and ability to demodulate under a variety of real-world conditions. It provides a highly accurate channel emulation capability to simulate AWGN, co-channel interference and multi-path fading over different channel profiles. Precise timing and filtering mechanisms satisfy the stringent signal and noise requirements inherent to FLO testing. Ready-to-run test cases improve testing productivity, while offering flexibility to support customized test suites.
