MaxVision Ships New MaxPac Product Line of Extreme-Performance Rugged Portable Workstations
Business Wire, March 27, 2007
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Today, MaxVision[R] Corporation announced the shipping of the next generation of the MaxPac[TM] product line of rugged, portable, extreme-performance workstations (M, X, and S Class Series). The MaxPac's compact, rugged casing, and state-of-the-art system designs provides a full line of feature-rich, portable, extreme-performance workstations for use in extreme conditions. All three classes of workstations have been updated as they are replacing previous models. The main features are outlined below.
The whole MaxPac series is truly compact and rugged. The S and X class are certified to operate at temperatures of 0 - 50xC at full load in extreme dust and dirt conditions (by means of its advanced - military grade - air filtration technology) and to withstand unprotected impacts and drops from 12"-18" without damage. A custom transit case is provided for shipping to your destination (via Federal Express or DHL) making the MaxPac ideal for deployment in-the-field.
Bruce Imsand, MaxVision CEO and founder, explains, "The MaxPac family is ever growing. We are continuously updating established products to very latest technology and adding new lines to satisfy the most demanding applications in the most extreme environments ever conceived for any imaging workstation."
MaxPac M Class Series
The MaxPac M Class systems are the standard workhorse system for commercial and some military applications; these systems are ideal for web casting, communications, and other standard applications. The new MaxPac 8080M and 8090M (replacing 8060M and 8070M) are the lightest members of the MaxPac family weighing in at just under 30 pounds. The M Class features Intel[R] Core[TM] 2 Duo dual core processors, up to 8GB DDR2 memory, integrated 17" (1280 x 1024) LCD display (with optional touch-screen and second free-standing display), two optional removable SATA hard-drives, and two open PCI expansion slots (with optional one PCI, and one PCIex16).
The MaxPac M Class key features include:
* Intel Core 2 Duo processor/ G965 chipset
* Up to 8 GB DDR2 memory
* Two removable or fixed hard drives, up to 750 GB each
* 17" (1280 x 1024) high contrast, high speed LCD display
* nVidia[R] Quadra FX1500 and FX3500 (MaxPac8090M), others by request

MaxPac X Class
Utilized as the selected standard of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Office of Global Support; MaxPac X Class workstations are deployed world-wide. These high-performance workstations are also used by the Army, Air Force, Marines, and the Australian DIGO for the interpretation and exploitation of imagery for the purpose of military intelligence.
MaxPac X Class systems are the ultimate in high-end performance, graphics, displays, and expansion technology. The new MaxPac 8230XRA 1, 2, and 3 (replacing 8200XRA1, 2, & 3) incorporates Intel's new workstation chipset for the dual-core Intel Xeon[R] processor 5100 series, which enables Intel dual-processor/dual-core quad CPU technology and is ideal for intense computing environments for both 32 and 64 bit critical applications for high-end workstations utilizing fully buffered DIMM (FBDIMM) technology and up to 1333 MHz FSB.
Two key features of the X Class are the triple 20.1" 1600 x 1200 LCD displays and its 3 TB removable hard drive Raid 5 array. These features have proved invaluable for imagery intensive geospatial intelligence applications.
The MaxPac X Class also features an integrated in-line UPS power system which supports all known AC power sources from 90 - 264 VAC from 50 to 400Hz and can run on internal batteries for more than 10 minutes operating at full load. MaxVision's unique Baghdad filter technology eliminates nearly all small partial dust and dirt common in the Middle East. These large-capacity filters can operate for months in the worst of conditions without overloading or otherwise limiting the operation of the unit at high temperatures.
The MaxPac X Class key features include:
* Dual-processor/ Dual-core Xeon 5100
* 12 GB DDR2 FB ECC memory
* 3 TB (4 x 750 GB SATA) Raid 5 HDPac4 removable drive magazine
* Choice of 1, 2 or 3 20.1" 1600 x 1200 LCD displays
* Choice of nVidia Quadro FX 1500, 3500, 4500, 4600, 5500 video cards. Two required for triple display
* Two PCIe x 16 slots for video, two PCI-X (one use for Raid controller), two PCI slots
* Optional integrated UPS and full range power.
* Two GigaBit Ethernet, and 4 USB
* Removable double-layer DVD burners
* 0-50 degrees Celsius operating temperature with features for quiet operations
* Advanced air filtration system
* Advanced water-tight Pelican roller transit case.
Pricing for the MaxPac X Class: Starting at $14,116 USD
MaxPac S Class Series
The MaxPac S Class fills the middle ground between the M Class and the X Class. The S Class was designed in response to the Marine Corp TEG-RWS requirements. It provides a single or dual 19" 1280 x 1024 display and dual-processor/dual-core Opteron 2000 HE processors. Limited to a total of three option slots and two removable hard disks (1.5 TB total), the MaxPac S Class is lighter, smaller, and lower cost than the X Class. This super-enhanced military version of the M Class provides higher performance; its ability to handle extreme temperature range (0-50aeC) and its Baghdad filtration system makes it suitable for most military applications where a good quality AC power source is available. Both single and dual display configurations are in active use by the Marines, Army, and SOCOM. It is also used by ESPN for HD broadcast of HD sports events.
