Fitch Assigns 'AA+' IFS Rating to Transamerica Life International Ltd.; Outlook Stable

CHICAGO -- Fitch Ratings assigns an 'AA ' insurer financial strength (IFS) rating to Transamerica Life International (Bermuda) Ltd. (TLIB) The Rating Outlook is Stable. The 'AA ' IFS ratings of AEGON N.V.'s (AEGON Group) U.S. operating entities as well as AEGON N.V.'s debt ratings were affirmed in separate press releases on Feb. 7, 2007 and can be found at www.fitchratings.com.

The rating reflects Fitch's view that TLIB shares the status of core with other U.S. rated entities. TLIB, an indirect subsidiary of AEGON Ireland Holding BV., is part of AEGON Americas for public reporting purposes. TLIB's risk management, governance, systems, controls and processes are integrated with those of AEGON Americas. TLIB is expected to continue to be capitalized in accordance with AEGON Group's standards which are consistent with Fitch's ratings expectations. Further exhibiting management's commitment to the company, TLIB is branded under the Transamerica name, which is well recognized in the Americas and Asia.

TLIB has operated as an offshore carrier since 1999 and began expanding its offering into the private placement life insurance market in late-2003. TLIB targets its insurance product solutions to the unique needs of the high net worth market and has developed distribution relationships with global private banks, insurance brokers and investment management firms. TLIB has exhibited strong growth over the past three years and is an important part of AEGON Group's global growth strategy.
