Delivering cleaner air through innovation. President George W. Bush learns about hydraulic hybrid technology from Robert Hall, Fleet Environmental Manager for UPS. UPS's hydraulic hybrid delivery vehicle (HHV) is the first of its kind and is part of the company's 1,500-vehicle alternative fuel fleet - the largest private alternative fuel fleet in the transportation industry.

The HHV and a UPS hybrid electric vehicle were among the vehicles featured today in a White House-led showcase of alternative fuel vehicles. In laboratory tests, the HHV achieved a 60 to 70 percent improvement in fuel economy and a 40 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. UPS is completing its test of the HHV in a real-world delivery setting in the Detroit, Michigan area.
