Tolly Group Reports Steelbox Networks Delivers Maximum Throughput and Scalability
Business Wire, March 28, 2007
Testing Reveals 1.5 Gbps Throughput and Support of up to 512 Concurrent Digital Video Streams
LAS VEGAS -- Steelbox Networks(TM), Inc., makers of network video distribution and storage devices, today announced the release of third-party testing results from The Tolly Group. The tests, conducted in March 2007, measured video-over-IP performance, scalability, codec support and storage load balancing of the Digital Matrix Storage Switch (DMSS) 3000.
Testing revealed:
* MPEG-4 digital video streaming at 1.5 Gbps throughput
* Concurrent play and record of 512 digital video streams
Additional test results showed the DMSS 3000:
* Supports a variety of codecs and transports from a mix of vendors, along with simultaneous output of unicast and multicast streams;
* Performs intelligent storage load balancing across storage devices, with the ability to detect and utilize the Network-Attached Storage (NAS) unit with the greatest available storage space; and
* Detects storage system power and hardware failures and automatically shifts data to any remaining storage systems.
"The advent of advanced, high-resolution, low-cost IP cameras is driving customers into surveillance solutions that lack scalability or compatibility with other technologies," said Steelbox Founder and CEO Richard Howes. "The report concludes that with the DMSS, organizations will no longer be forced to sacrifice the quantity or quality of their video due to insufficient switching and storage throughput."
