Avistar Demos Desktop Videoconferencing Solution at IBM's London Lotusphere Event
Business Wire, March 5, 2007
Video Integration Adds "Face-to-Face" Collaboration to IBM Lotus Sametime 7.5 Enterprise Instant Messaging Software
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. & LONDON -- Avistar Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:AVSR), a video collaboration platform provider, will demonstrate its desktop video integration with IBM Lotus[R] Sametime[R] 7.5 at the "Lotusphere Comes to You" event at the Guoman Tower Hotel in London on March 13, 2007.
Avistar's video integration with Lotus Sametime 7.5 enables video calling from the Lotus Sametime contact list. Users can "right-click" on the name of a Lotus Sametime contact to immediately start a one-to-one video call and click on additional names to expand the call to multiparty. This integration also allows users to transition easily from a text-based instant messaging chat to visual interaction, providing a variety of collaboration tools to quickly solve the business challenge at hand.
To improve the speed and quality of daily decision-making and deliver the nuanced communication needed to address complex issues, Avistar's videoconferencing solution provides:
* One-to-one and multiparty video calling for ad hoc collaboration;
* Broadcasting of interactive meetings and presentations to large audiences;
* Video recording, on-demand playback and publishing via e-mail and websites;
* Real-time data sharing that increases the accuracy and rate of information exchange.
Because Avistar is integrated with Lotus Sametime and available at the desktop, users can easily incorporate video into their daily business processes. Avistar's video solution also delivers features that ease remote system administration and enhance video call quality and reliability for mobile workers -- ensuring video communication is accessible when and where it's needed.
"In today's global workplace it's difficult to encourage and support spontaneous collaboration among workforces distributed around the world," said Douglas Cullen, Managing Director of European Sales at Avistar. "Adding video to employees' communication tools facilitates effective teamwork across time zones and geographies and, ultimately, boosts the bottom line."
