Business Wire, March 7, 2007
NEW YORK -- The AIG Companies today announced the formation of AIG Homeland Security Solutions(SM). The new specialty unit will provide access to insurance, risk management and security products and services to help companies work to prevent, mitigate and recover from terrorist incidents and other potentially catastrophic events.
AIG Homeland Security Solutions will offer terrorism- and security-related products and services available through AIG member companies. Products and services will range from emergency planning and threat assessments, political risk and property terrorism insurance, to crisis management services. In addition, AIG Homeland Security Solutions has designed its portfolio to be in accordance with the goals of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's National Infrastructure Protection Plan. This plan emphasizes government and private sector collaboration in instituting a comprehensive, systematic assessment and response to risks threatening critical infrastructure and key resources.
The new unit will be based in New York and headed by Robert Cruz, Practice Leader of AIG Homeland Security Solutions. Prior to being appointed to this position, Mr. Cruz was Assistant Director, Corporate Security, at AIG where he led the development of AIG's Emergency Readiness Program. Mr. Cruz was a U.S. Army Officer for over eight years and was awarded the Bronze Star for service in Afghanistan.
"All companies are concerned about security, yet few have adopted a comprehensive, all-hazard approach to address terrorism risk," said Robert Cruz, Practice Leader, AIG Homeland Security Solutions. "AIG Homeland Security Solutions provides resources and expertise to companies facing exposures associated with terrorist attacks, by reducing vulnerability, mitigating damage and creating critical financial protections against the entire range of attacks that occur to help manage the physical, operational, and financial aspects of the exposure."
