Jeffrey Pugh Joins Open Source Database Vendor as VP of Engineering

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced the appointment of industry visionary Tim O'Reilly to its corporate board of directors. The company also announced that Dr. Jeffrey Pugh has joined its senior management team as vice president of engineering.

Tim O'Reilly, the founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media, Inc., is an internationally recognized activist for open source and open standards. Jeffrey Pugh, vice president of engineering

Dr. Jeffrey Pugh is vice president of engineering for MySQL AB, responsible for the development of the company's family of open source database server software and tools. Based in MySQL's Silicon Valley office, he reports to Zack Urlocker, executive vice president of products.

Jeffrey has over 20 years experience in leading and managing software teams. He joins MySQL from Spoke Software where he was vice president of engineering and technology for that company's Web-based sales prospecting and lead generation software. Previously, he served in executive technology management positions for Attensity Corporation, TenFold Corporation, and as CIO for E.M. Warburg Pincus & Co., LLC, a leading global private equity firm. Earlier in his career, Jeffrey held various software engineering and senior product management roles at Oracle Corporation, where he was on the founding team for Oracle's ERP suite.

Jeffrey holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a PhD in Aeronautics/Applied Math from the California Institute of Technology.
