Energy Private Equity Veteran, John J. Moon, Joins Riverstone Holdings from Metalmark Capital

NEW YORK -- Global energy investment firm Riverstone Holdings LLC announced today that John J. Moon has joined as a Managing Director. Riverstone currently invests in energy private equity from its $3.8 billion Global Energy and Power Fund III, L.P. and in renewable energy from its $685 million Renewable Energy Infrastructure Fund I, L.P. Mr. Moon will be engaged in all investment activities of the funds and will serve on the Investment Committee of both funds.

Mr. Moon joins Riverstone from Metalmark Capital LLC, where he served as a Managing Director. Metalmark Capital is a leading private equity firm established by the principals of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners to manage the Metalmark Capital and Morgan Stanley Capital Partners funds. Mr. Moon was a Managing Director involved principally with the energy investment activities at both Metalmark Capital and at Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. Mr. Moon served on the Investment Committees of both Metalmark Capital and Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Moon worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co.
