iBoot Success Has 'Ripple' Effect for Dataprobe
Business Wire, May 1, 2007
Media Network Provider Ripple Leverages Dataprobe's Remote Reboot Technology to Maintain Uptime of Digital Signage Units, Keep Display Ads Running
ALLENDALE, N.J. -- Dataprobe, a leading manufacturer of innovative technology solutions for networking systems management, announced today that Ripple Networks, Inc., an out-of-home lifestyle digital media company delivering hyper-local content to hundreds of retail locations, has selected Dataprobe's iBoot remote power solution. Ripple (www.rippletv.com) currently uses the iBoot technology to maintain the uptime of approximately 375 digital signage units used for display advertising. Ripple plans to purchase approximately 2,000 additional iBoots this year.
Ripple, founded in 2004, is an out-of-home lifestyle media network delivering hyper-local news and entertainment directly to the neighborhood destinations people visit everyday. Already reaching nearly 10 million individuals each month via in-store high-definition screens tailored to an upscale and on-the-go audience, Ripple expects its expanding nationwide network of retail locations will grow to a few thousand new nationwide locations by the end of this year.
A single outlet power switch, iBoot allows Ripple to remotely reboot or control the power of its digital signage units over an IP network using an Internet browser, instead of dispatching a technician to resolve the issue. Dataprobe worked closely with Ripple network architects to integrate iBoots unique fault detection features into the Ripple platform. iBoot continually monitors Ripple's remote media servers and automatically takes action whenever a fault is detected.
Mark Wald, project manager, vendor relations, Ripple, said, "Our business is driven by advertising sales; if the screens aren't up, we can't sell advertising-- it's as simple as that. Our biggest issue used to be that we would have to send a technician out each time a device went down, when the device really only needed a reboot. This was extremely costly and inefficient. With Dataprobe's iBoot, we can now remotely reboot our computing devices from anywhere, at anytime from the convenience of an IP browser."
Wald continued, "Our experience with Dataprobe has been extremely positive on both technology and business fronts. The company has always treated us as a partner and has been very hands on in working with us. Dataprobe even reconfigured the iBoot solution to our specifications to better meet Ripple's unique business needs. This type of service is invaluable."
David Weiss, president and CEO of Dataprobe, said, "The Ripple Network already has a broad reach for national and local advertisers and the company continues to aggressively expand its presence. We're pleased that Ripple views iBoot as an integral component of their growing network. This type of endorsement clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the iBoot solution and illustrates the importance of maintaining uptime in demanding remote-site environments."
